JOJY Music for Children

Welcome and thank you for visiting JOJY Music for Children.

***With pandemic restrictions easing in the Vancouver Coastal Health Region, we are extremely excited to be able to return to in-person programming this fall term on the North Shore. Due to many factors related to this transition, including allowing time for children under 5 to be fully vaccinated (many of our students fall in this age range), our fall start for in-person classes will be slightly delayed with in person programming resuming on Saturday, October 15th. We will also be offering a full set of online programming for those that prefer, commencing on Friday September 16th.***

At JOJY Music for Children we offer unique curriculum-based music programs designed to enhance your child’s enjoyment of music and development of musical skills while nurturing their self-esteem and confidence.  Our program combines various concepts based upon the pedagogical approaches of Carl Orff and Zoltán Kodály.

JOJY founders, Jennifer and Justin, are former Capilano Community Music School instructors who formed their unique teaching style under the tutelage of Nadine Bohna, founder of the original Kodaly Orff Music for Children program at Capilano University. They are proudly carrying on her 35 year legacy of methodology whilst bringing fresh ideas and energy to their programming.

Our goal is to nurture a love of music within all of our students. The narrow age ranges in our program allow us to tailor developmentally appropriate curriculum to each class; this in turn allows us to effectively teach core music fundamentals within a fun-filled and joyful learning environment.

While pre-pandemic we had offered classes in multiple locations across the North Shore, include Edgemont Village, Parkgate and Dundarave, as we make our first steps to returning to in-person programming, we will be resuming at a single location to start: St. Catherine’s Church in Edgemont Village.(click on location for directions/map)
